Benny Gaughran was born in Dublin and grew up in Dundalk. He was educated in De La Salle Dundalk and studied Law at UCD, later obtaining a Diploma in Biblical Studies & Theology from TCD. He is an Accredited Mediator, and member of the UK Law Society.

Qualified in 1972, Benny firstly worked with Margetson & Greene Solicitors before joining Colgan Finnegan Solicitors. He set up his own practice in 1979.

Benny has extensive experience in litigation, particularly in personal injury, medical negligence claims, conveyancing, and probate practise. Benny has conducted a huge number of cases from the District Court right up to the Supreme Court. He has been involved in many claims resulting in very high awards. He has also represented clients at Arbitrations, Mediations and at various employment bodies.
For over twenty years, Benny played County Football for Louth. He won an All-Ireland Club medal with UCD, 3 Dublin Championship medals, a National League medal, a Railway Cup medal, a Sigerson’s medal (as captain) and many other honours. He was also selected on numerous occasions for the combined universities’ teams, the Leinster team and received several All Star nominations. He maintains an active interest in all sport and is a keen golfer.

Patrick Power is from Drumcondra, Dublin where he still resides. He was educated at primary and secondary level at Colaiste Mhuire in Dublin City Centre “as gaeilge”.

After obtaining his Law degree from UCD, Paddy commenced his apprenticeship with the firm of John S. O’Connor & Co., and was entered on the Roll of Solicitors in 1993. Paddy then worked as an Associate Solicitor with Ivor Fitzpatrick & Co.

He joined the practice of Bernard L. Gaughran & Co. as an Associate Solicitor in 1996 and became a Partner in 1999.

Patrick has a broad experience in many areas of litigation including Commercial litigation, Breach of Contract, Landlord & Tenant, property disputes and Personal Injury. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in the District, Circuit, and High Courts as well as the Commercial Court and at various tribunals and arbitrations.
He has extensive experience in the area of Family Law, representing clients in Judicial Separation and Divorce cases, and advising on all aspects of Matrimonial Law. As well as broad experience in conveyancing, representing private and corporate clients in residential, commercial, and mortgage transactions, Patrick also practises in the areas of Landlord & Tenant, Licensing Law, and Employment Law.

Away from the office Patrick enjoys all sports - particularly Gaelic games - and also has a keen interest in history and literature.
